Sitting on the patio surrounded by my people is my favorite place to be. But, I rarely sit still for long. On weekends or time away you will find me chasing sunrises and sunsets with my partner Joel outdoors, listening to podcasts or Taylor Swift while logging miles running, adventuring with my side-kick Bess, or cheering on the Colorado Avalanche hockey team.
Latest adventures include renting a camp van and traveling through the Grand Tetons, walking every Friday night at Lake Hefner with Bess, and skiing in New Mexico. ​

When not doing research or thinking about doing research, I enjoy cheering on the Green Bay Packers, spending time exploring historical landmarks and sites, visiting family, and engaging in grandmotherly hobbies like baking bread, reading, and tending my houseplants. (My family recently gifted me a top-of-the-line bread maker, which has only served to increase these activities!)
Some of my favorite trips in recent memory: watching the Packers versus the Dolphins at Lambeau Field for my dad’s 60th birthday; soaking in the history of Philadelphia, PA and Vicksburg, MS; spending time with my sister in the Mississippi River Delta.

As part of an integrated lifestyle, I serve as faculty advisor for the Baylor Bears Disc Golf Club, which is mostly a great excuse to hang out with undergrads and play the sport I love. When the weather is not cooperative for disc golf (which is seldom), my AFoL (Adult Fan of Lego), enthusiasm provides indoor activities. My daughter and I annually construct a Lego Winter village, complete with trains, a Christmas tree farm, and a winter Christmas market. Hiking, biking, and photography are also cherished pursuits, especially on summer trips to see family in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. When not on the move, I enjoy reading, smoking meat in my converted 55-gallon drum smoker and hanging out with my wife, daughter, and our four cats (Frosty, Zany, Luna, and Hemingway).
